Dr Pablo Achurra was a member of the Transport Systems and Logistics Laboratory between 2013 and 2019, initially as a PhD student and later as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. During his PhD he focused on maritime logistics, developing new mathematical models for the identification of vulnerable components of the global liner shipping networks. Later, as a PDRA, he was involved in a large-scale InnovateUK-supported trial of Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems.
In addition to his PhD, he holds an MSc in Supply Chain Engineering from Georgia Tech and a BSc in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
In the past, he was a visiting researcher at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and as a research engineer at the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation and Research Centre. He is also a licensed mariner with global commercial shipping experience aboard container ships, car carriers and LNG carriers.
